Refund Policy
Cancel any time before we file and get everything back. After we file, here is exactly what is refundable and what is not, and why.
Last updated September 2, 2026
1.The short version
Before we submit your filing, you can cancel for a full refund of the CorpStart service fee. After we submit it, the government fee is gone and cannot be returned to us or to you, because the registry keeps it whether or not you change your mind.
If we make the mistake, we fix it at our cost. If the mistake is in the information you gave us, refiling costs a new government fee.
2.Before your filing is submitted
Email [email protected] with your order number and we will cancel the order and refund 100% of what you paid, including the government fee and HST, as long as we have not yet submitted the filing.
Because we aim to file within one to two business hours, the practical window here is short. Contact us as soon as you know.
3.After your filing is submitted
Once a filing is with the Ontario Business Registry, Corporations Canada, or ServiceOntario, the government filing fee is non-refundable. Those bodies do not return fees for a completed submission, so we have nothing to refund. This is outside our control.
The CorpStart service fee at that point covers work already performed: preparing your documents and submitting them. It is refundable only in the circumstances below.
4.When we refund the service fee after filing
We refund the service fee in full if:
- We made a clerical error in preparing or submitting your filing. We also cover the government fee to correct our own mistake.
- We failed to submit your filing at all and you no longer want it submitted.
- We cancelled or refused your order after taking payment.
In these cases you do not need to argue the point with us. Send the order number and what went wrong, and we will make it right.
5.When we do not refund
We do not refund the service fee where:
- The filing was submitted correctly using the information you provided, and you have since changed your mind.
- A registry rejected or queried the filing because of information you supplied, such as a name that was not available or a director who did not meet requirements.
- You ordered the wrong service and we had already prepared and submitted it.
- A delay was caused by a registry outage, a government backlog, or a statutory holiday.
If a registry rejects a name you chose, we will work with you on an alternative. A resubmission requires a new government fee, which the registry charges again.
6.Turnaround times are targets, not guarantees
Our one to two business hour target applies during registry business hours and depends on the registries being available. Missing that target is not on its own grounds for a refund, though if a delay is our fault and it has cost you something, tell us and we will look at it properly rather than pointing at this page.
7.How to request a refund
Email [email protected] with your order number and a short description of the problem. You do not need a specific form of words.
We respond within one business day. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe and typically appear within five to ten business days, depending on your bank.
8.Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong, contacting us is faster than a chargeback and we would rather fix it. If you do file one, we will provide the registry submission record and correspondence to your card issuer, and we will still talk to you about resolving the underlying issue.
