Comparison

CorpStart vs Ownr

Ownr is an RBC-owned platform that bundles incorporation with an ongoing subscription for corporate maintenance, and often waives or rebates fees if you open an RBC business account. CorpStart is a straightforward filing service: one flat fee, government fees passed through at cost, no subscription and no banking relationship attached. Which is better genuinely depends on whether you want the bundle.

Which one suits you

Choose Ownr if

  • You are opening an RBC business account anyway and can use their rebate.
  • You want ongoing document management and cap-table tooling bundled in a subscription.
  • You would rather have one vendor for incorporation and continuing corporate upkeep.

Choose CorpStart if

  • You want to pay once, get your documents, and owe nobody anything afterwards.
  • You want the government fee shown separately and passed through at cost.
  • You already have a bank, or you do not want your incorporation tied to one.

Common questions

Is Ownr cheaper than CorpStart?

It depends entirely on the rebate. Ownr's headline price is higher, but if you qualify for their RBC business account rebate the effective cost can drop below ours. If you are not opening an RBC account, or you do not want to, our flat fee plus pass-through government fee is the lower total. Check their current pricing before deciding, since both of us change prices.

Do I get the same documents?

For a standard incorporation, substantially yes: Articles of Incorporation, By-law No. 1, organizational resolutions, and a share register. The difference is what happens afterwards. Ownr keeps those documents in a subscription product; we hand them to you and you own them outright.

Can I switch to CorpStart if I incorporated with Ownr?

Your corporation is registered with the government, not with any platform, so nothing is locked in. You can file amendments, annual returns, or anything else through us, or directly yourself. Download your minute book from wherever it currently lives first.
